THE FIRST HURDLE OF LIFE
Today was the last day of the session. Next month my class of 65 students would appear for their board exam. When i was a student board exam was like crossing the first hurdle of life. No doubt these exams are still scary, but the norms have been relaxed to such an extent that students have comparatively less pressure. But I won’t deny its not easy for them either. I could read their mind .
Today is their last day in this class. Last day when all of them are sitting together as they had been for last 12 years. I could sense the melancholy prevailing. Few tears swollen eyes, some fearful of future and some were buzzing with energy too. Yes the right time to show their true potential to the world. But overall the class was unusually silent and everybody had a pain of separation in their heart. Being a teacher i have to face this year after year. We nurture them, water them , shape them and then let them go. We let them fly to many unknown destinations where they slowly make their niche.
Today was also one such day when we were parting. On the last day of my class i normally like to interact with my students. We don’t have studies or any lectures. We share our view and dreams for future. Every eye had a dream and i was afraid that none should be shattered. They all achieve their goal.
I bounced a question to the class. What is success? Class buzzed with ideas and conversation once again. IT was not a debate and all were free to present their view point. “Success is a good education followed by good career and a good pay package” was one of the view point to which many agreed with nodding heads. I kept silent and waited for some more answers. Shilpa stood up “Success is beyond that too, one should strive to get ahead always , to achieve one milestone after another” I looked for some more participation. Sara thinks “Success is not just earning good package, but is also means being a good human being with compassion for humanity” I smiled approvingly at her. My smiling nod gave reason to many more for coming up with their replies.
Success for some of them was good money; for some it was being good human being others felt success comes to celebrity like actors, singers, politicians, dancers, who are super talented one
Now it was my turn. Yes all these views are right and i have very few things to add on. True that success is all about Name, fame, money, management. But actually all these are branches of the tree. Success is a tree which originates from the seed called DREAM. A deep strong DREAM to achieve is a key to all your SUCCESS. A dream followed by right planning, mentoring and working in right direction. I narrated a short story of Wilma Rudolf. A little girl which once dreamt of being the fastest girl on track. One unfortunate day she suffered paralytic attack. But this paralysis could only weaken her legs . Her dreams and her conviction to her dreams were still strong. She never lose any hope. Rather worked harder to achieve it. Rest the world knows.
I looked at my little warriors who were ready to face the first hurdle of life. I know they would cross it. I said Success is important for YOU. So prepare yourself for success and be equally prepared for the failures. Never be disheartened by Failures because that is a stepping stone to success. Also as somebody has said “Failures are best ways to find how to get success”. So the ultimate game plan is to prepare oneself, YOU for both success and Failure. Adopt the right methodology and be guided by right spirits. And be ready for consequences. If success kisses your feet don’t you get intoxicated. Settle your feet firmly on plain and rise to the infinity.
Today when you go out things would stop you , hurdles may block your path . Duoubts may slow you but then satay firm and stand tall. Be YOU , believe in your DREAMS, have faith in your conviction .Success would follow you to any path you tread .
My students my friends and my little saplings whom i was to hand over to the world today, looked in my eyes. A very emotional moment and was tough to fight back the tears. They all surrounded me and i wished them all the best for their future. I saw them dispersing and going out of the school campus. GOD BE WITH THEM ALWAYS. AMEN!!
